PortStJohns.com aims to provide information of use to the visitor to the town, travel advice for those visiting the Wild Coast, contact details of our local businesses and some background about Pondoland, one of the last unspoiled parts of South Africa.
We have a huge advantage: the cost of a holiday here must be one of the lowest in South Africa. So if you are; looking for peace and quiet; newly unemployed with time to kill and a family looking for an awesome holiday; or simply exploring Africa on a budget, then the Wild Coast is the place for you!

The Wild Coast is spectacular. No other word for it.
Where else can one walk for days through un-spoilt ancient forests and tribal lands that have remained little changed for centuries?
Where else is there such a blend of towering mountains, wandering coastal cliffs and the loneliness of empty kilometer-long beaches?
We've got extraordinary bird watching, living history, shipwrecks, battlegrounds and plenty of historical sites. You can hang out till the early hours listening to live music, meeting an extraordinary cross section of people or simply take a walk to a local village and meet the sangoma's or just talk to people around the fire. You can visit Mtambane and watch whales from the world famous Millennium Bar.
The range of visitors that honour us with their interest sometimes amazes even us. We have caravan rallies from the northern farming communities of South Africa, the annual "Doobie Run" bringing bikers from all over South Africa and even the occasional light aircraft association drops in to experience the airstrip.
Port St Johns features in a number of movies, not only because of the spectacular coastal, river and mountain scenery, calm clement weather (well most of the time!) and wide variety of flora but because the people are friendly and the Port St Johns infrastructure and services are reliable.
